Energy efficient buildings

Software monitoring the use of energy in public buildings

The Cork County Council has developed the Energy Management Software which helps to save time and costs when monitoring the use of energy in public buildings. On top of that, the municipality achieved ISO 50001 and inspired other partners from Scotland and Northern Ireland to consider applying this Standard in their towns/counties.

The energy efficiency retrofitting project of 2016 and 2017 presented an excellent opportunity for Cork City Council to achieve a number of goals with regards to this development including: a replacement of a faulty heating system that was expensive to maintain and expensive to run, improvement in the energy efficiency of the homes, reducing the carbon footprint of the homes, and improving the quality of life of the residents. All of these goals have been achieved with this project.
