Meet local artists

Artists and tourists connected via app

The Cultural Council of North East Iceland has, together with Northern Irish partner, developed a mobile app called Creative Trails. The app shows to the tourists which artists and museums are located nearby and what they offer. The idea was very well received and initiated a discussion about creating similar trails in the whole of Iceland. Additionally, the project organized several activities and events to support networking and knowledge exchange among artists from different regions. Birna Pétursdóttir, co-founder of the creative media production company Fluga Hugmyndahus, could participate in the Galway Film Fleadh in Ireland and increase her network thanks to Creative Hotspots.

We came here excited and moderately optimistic. We were seeking funding for our documentary Drift, and a possible co-producer. We were very happy with our meetings as the feedback was positive. Although no promises were made, we are engaging in further conversations with a few of the producers. What we thought was amazing, was the willingness among almost everyone to give advice and pointers. That was extremely valuable for us.
