Optimizing energy use
Building energy efficient communities
In Greenland, the city of Sisimiut conducted an energy analysis of the Apisseq dormitory, retirement home and two other municipal buildings to find out where energy could be saved and how to educate the residents of these building to act more sustainably. During the project, ARTEK has gained new knowledge about energy efficient buildings and modern ventilation systems, and shared them with local engineering consultants to improve their competitiveness.

MASANTI A/SThanks to the collaboration with ARTEK we were able to optimize the design of our new type house (mainly the ventilation system) and achieve further energy savings in already rather energy efficient house. Until today, one home was built in Sisimiut, Greenland. However, the plan and our hope is to build many. This way ARTEK's contribution to the energy savings in our community was significant.
