Wild Norway and Nord University analysed the possibilities for Sámi enterprises in Northern Trøndelag to develop tourism activities in line with the Slow Adventure concept. The conclusion of their report called “Two eyed seeing guide” was that neither Sámi nor western cultures could develop an indigenous tourism product alone. Just as these two cultures have been naturally living side by side for centuries, they have to cooperate, exchange knowledge and experience, and be involved equally in developing the tourism experience. Experience BørgefjellThanks to the SAINT project our community has been able to take a significant step forward in developing quality tourism experiences based on both the Saami and western culture that live side by side. We were pushed to cooperate and develop integrated tourism experiences in the spirit of "two-eyed seeing". The project has made us realise that neither the Saami nor the western tourism products can stand alone but need to be an integrated part of the tourism experiences we deliver in Røyrvik.
