Arctic Clusters
To support the implementation of macro-regional and sea-basin strategies, the NPA Monitoring Committee funded clustering activities between ongoing projects.
Clustering projects took place between projects from different Arctic programmes dealing with the same theme or projects that are addressing the same territorial challenges.
The cooperation has to take place between projects funded by different cooperation programmes and the objective is to ensure better implementation of the cooperating projects, more efficient use of the funding, better results and wider dissemination of the results. The clustering activities shall contribute to the implementation of EU’s Macro Regional and Sea Basin strategies, the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region and the Action Plan for a Maritime Strategy for the Atlantic, or to the EU Arctic Communication, An integrated European Union policy for the Arctic. Decisions on clustering projects will be made by the Joint Secretariat.
Funded Arctic Clusters
Three projects received funding in the context of the Arctic Clusters: Arctic Cluster, N-EEC and C4CA.
The aim of ARCTIC CLUSTER is to increase awareness and transfer good energy practices by optimising the use of resources across three complementary projects (SECURE, EEBAK and GrAB), funded by three different Arctic cooperation programmes (NPA, Interreg Nord and Kolartic CBC), that are all addressing similar themes and territorial challenges.The newly formed project cluster will disseminate solutions from 3 different Arctic Programmes to target groups across the whole Northern Periphery and Arctic Area.
The North-European Energy Cluster (N-EEC) is a joint action, formed by three separate ongoing projects in the northern peripheral regions of Europe. The core idea in N-EEC is to gather the strengths and best practises from each ongoing project and create added value by arranging and hosting several joint events (conferences, symposiums, seminars, stakeholder round-tables etc.) concerning energy use in buildings, retrofitting of public buildings, carbon footprint and life-cycle assessment of buildings as key themes.
Champions for Climate Action (C4CA) will take outcomes of the completed RECENT & GREENSETTLE projects and combine these with the ongoing FAMARB project’s approach to energy efficiency. The overall aim is to increase knowledge about these issues among the Northern communities, who want to mitigate emissions caused by energy usage.
ARCTIC PACER, or 'Arctic Public Services Innovation Cluster' project, will create synergies among 30 partners from 20 regions and 7 countries to face the same challenge: better public services provision in northern territories. This project will cluster 5 international projects to explore innovative solutions for participative user-centred, quality and sustainable digital public services in Arctic regions.
