The Arctic Cooperation presented at the EU Arctic Forum

Head of Secretariat Kirsti Mijnhijmer presented the work of the Arctic Cooperation and NPA at a high level meeting assessing recent developments in the Arctic and discussing the challenges ahead.

The European Commission, the European External Action Service, and the Government of Sweden jointly organised the EU Arctic Forum in Umeå, Sweden, on 3-4 October 2019.

Kirsti Mijnhijmer presented the joint work of the Arctic Cooperation collaborative network on the panel "Connecting the Arctic". A broad range of Arctic stakeholders representing governments, international organisations, civil society, industry, research, indigenous and local communities participated to the event. 

The event built on the achievements of the EU Arctic policy in recent years. The focus has been on international cooperation, the climate-environment-ocean nexus, sustainable investments, and connectivity in the Arctic.
