Summary

This project will develop tools to enhance capacity of manufacturing companies in the NPA region to adapt and embrace new technologies and innovation. The toolbox developed will consist of subsets such as digital manufacturing (robotics and simulation). New ideas and thinking (human centred and environmental thinking, competitiveness), business models, and, modern Product innovation.

Objectives

The project objective is to reduce the competitive and knowledge gap of manufacturers in the NPA Region by implement and refine a suite of innovation supports across manufacturing SME’s in the NPA Region.

Tangible

Improved competitiveness:

Through the project, manufacturing SMEs received technology support and engaged with research institutes in their own regions and across the NPA. Newly acquired technical skills such as robotics, automation, virtual reality or 3D printing enhance SMEs´ production processes, save resources and increase their regional and global competitiveness.

Intangible

Building institutional capacity:

Partners pooled their expertise and resources in key technology areas and together with manufacturers´ engagement developed an innovation support toolkit for SMEs. Colleges and universities involved in the project integrated the expertise gained through the project into newly developed curriculums, training materials and practical workshops focused on service design, environmental sustainability and product development processes, among others.
