Project DIYReNew
Project Acronym | DIYReNew |
---|---|
Project Title | DIYRenewables |
Summary
DIYReNew aims to overcome the challenges of peripheral location; dispersed demography and lack of critical mass by promoting and implementing DIY wind and solar energy solutions for dispersed buildings in rural communities. It enhances local energy autonomy and efficiency providing also smart energy solutions for remote public infrastructure and housing.
Locally tested small-scale and easy-to-build DIY solutions (household solar systems in Finland/wind systems in Scotland) are made applicable in different NPA regions with help of knowledge transfer, stakeholder training and active involvement of local residents.
The novel and low cost/low barrier DIY approach directly involves and benefits local stakeholders excluded from centralized energy systems. Training of DIY solution trainers and a multilingual online learning platform on RE practices further enables multiplication of results within and beyond NPA partner regions.
Objectives
The objective of the preparatory project is to develop a high quality main project application.
