Better health care quality

Safety technologies secure more independent ageing

Western Norway Research Institute has developed two services which increased patients’ safety and independence, increased quality of health care and improved working conditions for health care workers. Safety technology packages for sheltered housing and private homes include various alarms that notify users, relatives or the health care services when the unforeseen and unwanted events, such as person falling from bed or leaving the home, happen. The second service is a medication dispenser that reminds the user, with an alarm, when it is time to take the medication. In case the medication has not been taken, the alarm will alert the relatives or health care personnel.

Development Center for Sicknesses and World Tests in Sogn og Fjordane

I was involved in the development of the welfare technology service. The process started in the municipality by surveying needs and challenges; it was a challenging, but good process. It has been a very good collaboration with the other partners in the IT-forum work group, the regional response center, etc. which has had great value and impact. The co-production methodology followed has a good potential for other services.
