PLASTO uses injection moulding of thermoplastics to produce new aquaculture products from used fishing gear. Through the project´ conferences in Ålesund the company has found new supply chain partners, Plastix Global, a Danish recycling company specialized in converting used fishing materials into new raw resources, and Norwegian Plastic Recycling focused on re-using the plastic waste. These partnerships helped PLASTO close the loop of their plastic material flow in the aquaculture industry as they provide raw plastic pellets made of waste material, that are then moulded by PLASTO into new products.

PLASTOThrough participation in conferences and workshops arranged by the project group we achieved much valuable publicity on our work on closing the loop of plastic material flow in the aquaculture industry. We have met two companies which have been very important for us to be able to achieve our goals. Plastix Global who produce new material from discarded nets and ropes, and Norwegian Plastic Recycling who was the missing piece of puzzle solving the logistical issues we could not solve ourselves.
