The remote day and night supervision cameras enabled the health care staff in Norrbotten region to replace in-person visits of old people living in their own homes, with cameras installed in their bedrooms. This system is more comfortable, provides undisturbed sleep for old people and saves the health care staff from travelling approx. 25.000 km per month. For old people it is important to stay physically and socially active as it promotes mental, social, and physical health. 39 people with early onset dementia or other forms of limited cognitive impairments tested the GPS devices that track their movement and allow them to live a more independent life.
Gustav Söderlund
e-Health strategist at Region NorrbottenThe main advantage has been the possibility to work with several partners from both our own country but also with other countries that have similar challenges as we have. Furthermore, the nature of the NPA program has allowed us to work with innovation that was not necessarily cutting edge technology wise, but was innovative in the form how you deliver services. And devising new ways of working. The lower bar which made it possible to use ‘off the shelf’ technologies made it easier to not only try and evaluate services, but also implement the services that worked.
