Introducing targeted innovation

Robotics and automation to improve working conditions

Brødrene Karlsen tested whether the industrial automation could be used to re-design and simulate the automated packaging system of different fishery products and how re-designing the warehouse layout could improve its management. With the introduction of robotics and automation systems, the productivity and effectiveness of the packaging process improved dramatically. Besides, with the automated system, the workers could be removed from the harsh working environment with low temperature and high noise levels.

Brødrene Karlsen

In TARGET, Brødrene Karlsen has received support from UiT The Arctic University of Norway in 1) the design and simulation of a robot-aided and automated system for effectively and efficiently packaging different fish-related products and 2) the design of automated warehouse solutions for raw materials and finished products.
