Promoting slow tourism

Better marketing for SMEs in the sustainable tourism sector

The project raised awareness among SMEs, consumers and key stakeholders in Northern Ireland about the concept of slow adventure as a form of sustainable tourism. Through the SAINT´s consumer report, businesses learnt about new consumer groups to target, both domestically and internationally, and the most effective ways to reach them. Newly developed marketing models enabled SMEs to market their services more effectively and a guide helped them to create and narrate their slow adventure tourism products.

As an SME I was delighted to be part of Slow Adventure NI, an innovative initiative. As tourism market is continually evolving, the latest research findings and resources were provided to develop a unique product and to ensure appropriate support. This new approach was devised around a collaborative approach from international research and best practice which the project leaders continuously shared with me through seminars or through networking opportunities with SMEs.
