Virtual hens to advertise for their farm

Reaching new markets and customers with digital marketing

In Northern Ireland, two farms engaged with Digi2Market team to explore how augmented reality and immersive storytelling can help them reach new customers and grow the brand recognition.

The Glenballyeamon farm has a long tradition in providing the local community with free-range eggs. The farm was open to test how immersive technology, together with humour and critical storytelling, could increase peoples´ awareness about the local farm. Digi2Market created two animated hens that engaged with people on social media and drove their attention to the farms´ products.

For more examples on how virtual/augmented reality can help SMEs in rural areas, check out Digi2Market case studies, YouTube channel, and Toolkits for Digital Marketing, Immersive storytelling, and Green Business.

The immersive technology solution developed through the project was a web-based augmented reality (AR) solution, implemented and activated through markers on the egg box. As an additional user route to the AR Out There Eggs experience, the AR content was made accessible via Facebook’s Spark AR platform. This platform allows users to access and share AR content through Facebook’s app.
