Visit geoparks virtually

Virtual reality opens up new possibilities

Magma Geopark has improved tourists´ access to services and localities by opening a new visitor centre with a Geo Virtual Reality tool (geoVR), developed 19 new information panels and 6 biking routes across the Geopark. Training courses were organized for primary/secondary school teachers and local tour guides to inform them about new geoVR possibilities. After the courses, tour guides felt more knowledgeable and confident in giving the tours and teachers were highly interested in using the geoVR to teach children about geology and geography.

A primary school teacher

I found the teaching course very useful. It was interesting to learn about how our geology connects to other places. I will use Trofjell Geoparks to show the class other places in Norway. My students are excited about the geoVR and I will use it in the classroom to explore the world with them. It’s especially good for young children to learn about geology, heritage and other countries.
